Half ready for the holiday spirit

Hello Friends,
I am so happy to be on holiday vacation. Its the best. Have not been up to too much the first two days.
I think I am neglecting my Holiday spirit somewhat. Havent wrapped and no cards made or sent. Probably would be easier if I bought cards. Also no working oven so have no idea what to make for the big meal...but fear not, Im just happy to be on vacation.
I did make these little bags which are kind of cute for some good friend-o-s. I hope they like them and arent reading my blog.( I dont think they do... The nerve!)
Here is the otherside.
Hope everyone has a great holiday. Peace to all.

Half empty on time

I have been informed that it has been two months since I last posted. No real excuse.
Working five days a week can make it hard to fit in things I enjoy such as working on my own artwork.
Luckily for me, Thanksgiving vacation is almost here. I will have a week to get things done...or not...
I have my planners ready to help me plan out the vacation days.  My art besties have been so into planners that it has been hard for me to not catch the bug. Now I just need to plan more things. Computer just crashed so farewell my friends.

Over a full month late

Friends- so sorry for the delay in posting. Teaching five days a week has really taken a toll on me.
There is so much I don't seem able to do anymore,
But on a happier note:
Here are the first two pages of the article on my planner journal that will be in the October issue of Art Journaling. Hurrah.

Mostly, I have only had time to work a bit in my large planner, although this weekend even that hit the back burner. I do love working in this book. My goal is to use up a lot of my supplies collage stash, and photos. I have way to much stuff in these areas. They would never fit in my tiny house.

Wish I could quit my job and draw and plan all day. What a different life that would be. Alas, I must go work on my art assessment / student learning objectives. We have to now evaluate the students in art three times a year. Ugh. I'm not so fond of teaching to the famous "elements of art" as the key player in the art room. I feel creativity should be the star...but what do I know? Tra-la-la. Have a great week.

Halfway through a zillion projects

Alas summer vacation is almost over and I am half catching up and half doing nothing for the last few days of no school. Here Are two pages on some books I am working on. The small one is my mini faces book and the larger one is based on Teesha Moore's junk journals.

I also just took a crochet class and kind of get it ( except what do you do with that extra chain stitch you make when you turn your piece?) So as you can see I have sooo- soooo much more to do. I can't possibly report back to school in a week.

This girl was drawn with pencil and colored mostly with pan pastels. I love her little barrettes. Too bad I messed up around the eyes. Thanks, my sweet Jane Davenport for some guidance via your wonderful book.
Oh sigh it's off to lesson plans next week and getting the art room into working condition. Well at least Louisa the sock monkey will be glad to resume her role as kindergarten assistance.

Half way through summer

At last I have knitted a rabbit hat. It's a tricky thing these hats. Working with four needles, but I made one. The next question is...will I make any more? I learned a bit at knitting boot camp, but still don't feel totally confident. Might try a sweater anyway.

It was pretty up in the North Carolina mountains. After camp, I went to Asheville and look what I saw:

So fun. Almost bought a dracula sock monkey but instead a skirt. Trying to get back into the art now that I am home a few days.

What have you been up to? Please share.

Never full of Seaside

Can't get enough of Seaside

Hello Summer! I love summer and I love Seaside. So much fun here in my paradise.
Back home now trying not to think about August.

Working on finishing sewing these fun characters. Thinking about what to do with them after they are completed. Any ideas? I was thinking a mobile, but not sure.

Trying to get art done, but my brain always turns to reading. Getting ready for knitting boot camp. I hope I learn how to knit enough to create those cute Julie Arkell knitted ears. Well it will be a good laugh at at knitting camp. I have warned the instructor already about my talents. She said anyone can learn. I will let you know. Hope you are enjoying summer as much as me.

Still over a half of summer to go

Hurrah, summer vacation has begun. So nice not to be somewhere and beautiful weather as well. I have been spending a lot of time on my porch. Lots of summer plans yet no summer plans.

I want to draw everyday and try to tame my magazine problem. One magazine at a time. Why oh why do I have an addiction to magazines?

I am going to knitting boot camp for a weekend in July. Maybe they should call it sock camp. Want to join me? The more the merrier. Still trying to make those Julie Arkell knitted ears for my dolls. The teacher will probably give me a puzzling look when I request that as a goal.
What will you be doing this summer? Travel? Art? Cooking? Please let me know.

Halfa week offa

Ya hoo four days off from school and after this week, I need it. Practicing outside for May Day and monitoring children's behavior is not something I relish, but it's over.
I started this picture with just the skin blobs and then added the details. For some reason I really like it.

Chalk work in fourth grade. Degas really handled his pastel well. We learned it is not easy. Wait til you see the sock monkey paintings next time with "man hair."

A bit of wine tasting this week during my cooking class. We learned how to make burrato, my favorite cheese these days. We only got a tiny taste sample so I had to drink more wine to make up for it.

Here I used a bamboo stick to draw with white ink. It was an interesting technique, but not as freeing and loose for me as the artist said it was for her.
Hope you have a great weekend. I am going to see Sheryl Crow this weekend. Should be fun. What are you up to?

Full paradise in Georgia

Hello friends and visitors. Busy times here in South Carolina. Practicing my watercoloring. As I tell my students, it's not easy and you have to be patient. I think I am a colored pencil girl.

Have just returned from the most amazingly beautiful town in Georgia. It's an arts, eco friendly community. Beautiful land galore for walks and a great chai latte at the Blue Daisy.

I am so ready to move there.
Meanwhile back in reality. Had to get ready for student art show.

That took a lot of time and thought, but a good turnout of my little artists and their families.

Second grade is having fun using chalk for Blue Dog art. They are really cute and the colors are wonderful( until I have to spray them.)
Must get prepared for another rainy day. Hope all is well in your little paradises. Xxoo.

Rain half a day everyday

How amazing. Another blog post in less than a week. World record time. Yes, I am in need of a trip, but not sure any will be taken besides a virtual kind. Dreaming of Southern France- but who isn't?

I know... Unbelievable. Two new pages in less than a week. I think it's that carbon pen Jane Davenport suggested. Love it.
No cake baking this week-end. Maybe almond cookies.

Seems I have neglected to show my dandelion tattoo. Here it is. Pretty painless.
We have rain all weekend so who knows, may be posting by next weekend if I don't go to the movies.
Thanks for visiting.

Spring is fully here

Hello Friends. Seems as if I have forgotten how to blog. Trying to return to it...really truly. Here are my latest creations. I am requested to donate something to our school silent auction so I glazed these plates. I like the mushroom plate, but it has a few pocked areas I have to try and repair. I am a little nervous. What if no one bids on them?

This pen was recommended by Jane Davenport and I am gaga over it. It is a really fine tip and it makes me want to draw like crazy.

Super fun weekend with my friend Joy and her hubby Leo. Joy forgot to bring me her signature granola ( I am a granola groupie) so she made me some on the visit.
We enjoyed the beach, downtown Charleston, and just hanging out. I hope they visit again soon.

Half back to sunshine

I posted the before of this page awhile back and kind of finished it tonight. I like the way its filled with stuff everywhere. It's a smidgen of this and that.

Here's another page from my planner. Noticed tonight when I was finishing the first two pages above that I'm not using my journal much anymore, just the planner. Hope to do some work in the journal again soon.

Look how pretty it is in Charleston, even at low tide. Went to an oyster roast on Saturday and actually ate some oysters. The sun and heat have finally arrived so I am a happy camper.

I will end with some more fourth grade ceramic desserts. Hope the sun is shinning on you as well. Xxoo, t

Full of busyness

Oh my it's been some time since I have blogged says my blogger patrol.
I have had a busy January. My artners in crime came to visit and even cooked me a decadent chocolate cake for my birthday. We had a great time sketching at a teach house and supporting my local art store.

School has been busy too with clay and painting. Love these desserts created by the fourth grade. Next challenge...sewing and fiber.

This past weekend I went to Key West for the first time and somehow ended up in a kayak for a ride among the mangrove trees. Key West is quite a place.
So hopefully I will get back on the blog wagon so my blogging patrol stays calm.
Thanks for visiting.

Not full of Monday love

Happy New Year!
Alas today is the final day before I must return to work. I had a wonderful vacation, but did not get as much done as I had hoped. I did manage a lot of reading and lounging.

I have some plans for this winter including, getting my artwork together to enter a showing( yes, nervous about that) and to finish this children's book idea I wrote one morning at 4 AM.
The best news is that my artners in crime will be here in about two weeks for a big birthday celebration. We will laugh, make art and inspire each other. I cannot wait.

New planner is ready to go as well. Was thinking if doing it all black and white, but maybe not.
Oh well at least the kindergartners will be drawing pandas tomorrow. A good week to all.
