Clayfully

Hello hello,
Where is the sunshine and warm weather? Where is my beloved summer?
Question...I have three personal days I want to use on a mini vacation but can not afford to fly across any oceans. Where do you think I should go? Please share.

I have had some fun this week painting on pottery pieces. This one is called black outline is NOT always a good idea. Agg.

I cannot wait to see how they turned out tomorrow when I open the kiln. It's always a surprise. These pictures are pre-glaze firing. I have been very brave this year offering clay lessons to every grade (except kindergarten from he@#). The students have really created some nice pieces.
Working on another large painting and so far I like it. Maybe it will be ready by my next blogging.
Ciao all

Half a weekend left...

Back for more blogging. This is my 16x20 painting. Still working on it a bit. Not sure about all the cluster things in the background. Too many? Too weird? Other suggestions?
Today I managed to spend most of the day working in my journal and on this painting. (also made some baked tofu)

Having no school tomorrow has really been a blessing, giving me some free time.
Tomorrow I hope to go through a huge stack of magazines( no, not that stack Kelly)
and color in another journal page.

These are some first graders showing off their clay hearts. It's an undertaking working with clay with my class numbers and time limits, but they love it. I have really enjoyed working with fourth grade this past week. They are making wire sculptures based on Alexander Calder's work.

Well off I frolic to cook up my kale, onion, and farro for dinner. Tra la la.

Taxingly full

Anyone seen a slacker lurking? Uh that would be me. Been busy trying to get taxes done so financial aid can be applied for so little Miss can go to college and than computer decides it doesnt want to work with taxes and yada yada...but finally it's done and I even got to relax a bit today before I had to get into salad mode. This is a farro and chicken salad.

I made the mistake of taking this cookbook out of the library, True Foods, and bought ingredients to try making two salads and a chili. The kale salad was great. This one not as good. Going to try not to open the book again so I can work on some painting.

I think I made this in Austin at Lorraine's house but it's still there. Lorraine was nice enough to sew everything together and I was sulky since I wanted to enamel instead of cut papers so I don't blame her if she keeps it, although these are not her colors.
So I think I will end with some student artwork. Have a sparkling week.xxoo t
