Hiatus full

Today I was notified that my blog hiatus was over two months old. Sorry to devoted readers for the delay. I did not intend for any hiatus to occur, but it happened.
This picture is kind of blurry and the background is actually a deep blue/purple but I think I better keep rollin, rollin rollin.
I have been busy with school and we had a cold spell. Cold equals bury myself under the covers which isnt so conducive to creating art.

Things are looking good. We have just started our two week vacation and I have art and organizing plans. Got some new furniture for the studio for storage which I am excited about. Working on a sewing project as late gifts for my gals. Baking plans as well and a Christmas lasagna ( is that allowed?) Only weak spot in the week is taking Chloe to get her wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow. Just in time for Christmas. Yes, little Miss was scheduled for Friday but enjoyed a small glass of lemonade that morning so back we go.

Here's my beach in the winter. Still looks nice.
Look what I found on my trip to North Carolina:

This knitting store was full of sock monkey scenes. Kind of like Christmas department store windows...but all with sock monkey. Plus I was able to pick up a deck of sock monkey tarot cards. Let me know if you need a reading. Enjoy the holidays and thanks for visiting despite my unplanned hiatus. Xxoo,t

Full of the Praire

We had a great time at Round Top and at the Prairie. Far too much shopping, but we did get some art done, thanks to Arizona who gave us some tutorials. At least I managed this green rabbit. We were limited to green, grey, black, and white paint.

A lot of pie was sampled. Miss my Austin and Arizona and can't wait to see them again.

Full of half

I am finally back. Hope I remember how this works. It's been a hard two months, but I'm trying not to be mopey. School is going fine. They gave me the megaphone for after school car duty. Such power.

Have started many journal pages, but these are the only two I have managed to complete. Going to see my two art besties Thursday in Austin and we are going to Rachel Ashwell's Prairie b and b. Am I excited or what?

Trying my hardest to learn knitting and crochet but it isnt easy for this thumbellina. I hope Julie Arkell will be proud of my lopsided washcloth.

And lastly, here's my Kappa Delta at her first formal.
Hope all is well in your blog filled worlds.

Crumblefull

Nashville really was a fun town. I would like to go back there, but will bring my cowgirl boots next time. I wish I had painted this mural located in my hotels' stairwell to the parking garage.

Here on my own I made this empty nest crumble. The apricots and strawberries were great. Not so sure about the pine nuts. They should have been good, but...

School has begun and the kids are back in full force, requesting to use the bathroom and asking about the sock monkeys. Somehow I have forgotten the sock monkeys' names over the summer. What's a gal to do?
The college daughter seems to be doing well and made it into Kappa Delta after much drama. She even likes two of her classes. That is definitely one for the Roll Tide cheer.
Off to make my green smoothie. Got hooked on those in Nashville. Have a great weekend.

Alabama is half way to somewhere

Ah summer is winding down. Italy is over. My basil is losing it's green oomph... Deer have nothing much left to munch on. I went to my classroom. Disaster there. Looks like it was involved in an emergency weather experience. Old artroom/office still a mess.
But I leave it all to take Chloe to college tomorrow. The car is packed to the brim and the only thing left is to make the brie sandwiches. I can't believe this little gem will be on her own.

All I can say is Roll tide!

Enjoy the last of summer. I guess some of you still have lots of it left. Maybe you can send me just a tiny bit more.

Full of Italian images

Ah back to the real world...
But my backyard is not looking too shabby...

Still, I miss my pal Lorraine and our Italian shenanigans. School is on it's way and Lorraine is eager to countdown the days for me. What a friend...
This year we will focus on Paul Klee so I am eagerly collecting everything I can on him.

I am in love with these sponge purses I saw in Venice, but I wonder what happens to them if they get wet.
I hope you are all having a good summer. Mine is snazzy to a t.
Until next time...

Full of gelato

Italy was wonderful in every way. Lorraine and I took pictures galore, drank the vino, and I helped her have a great evening adventure in Venice by getting us so lost I still don't know how it happened.

We both enjoyed the Venice biennial art show. Cinque Terre has it's charm and lots of wine.
Urbino was most beautiful and we had a car adventure.

And of course gelato everywhere. I managed at least one a day. I branched out from lemon and grapefruit once in Urbino.

I can safely say I would go back to Italy anytime.

Soon to be full of gelato

On the road to pasta, wine, and gelato and to see PdF with my good friend Lorraine (who speaks no Italian). Expect we shall have a grand time and many laughs.

Rain, rain everyday. It has become an old friend I wait for
each day.

It appears I am growing a tomato plant in a weed zone. Have no idea how it happened. Usually I prevent plant growth, but this one didn't need me I guess.
Shall try and post while busy eating and taking photos.

Full of summer activities

So sorry friends,
I have been busy busy plus I have managed to get laryngitis. Great during Italian class, but it does give me a sexy rasp.
Since I last wrote I have managed to...
1. Get this silly tattoo. I know it's here for good. Luckily I can not see it. What was I thinking. Daughter is totally disgusted with me.

2. Drive in a car to Alabama and back with my daughter, Danica race car driver the second. We did manage a stop at the Cracker Barrell! My first experience there. And it's true, they have a lot of sock monkeys in the store.

3. And there's always art either swimming in my head or on the paper. Hope to write my children's story about Little Plate before I forget.

So that's it in a nutshell. Thanks for visiting. Xxoo T

Almost full of summer

This will be my last week of school before summer vacation. I am thinking of how I can use my time wisely. I know its good to relax and dream, but it's a gift to have so much time off and I want to use it well. So far I will have company for five days, a drive to the University of Alabama with Chloe for Bama Bound, and a trip out of the country with my friend Lorraine. I don't even have to tell you where we are going. You should know.

I am in love with these sock monkey painting/collages created by first graders. Sad to give them back. They crack me up.

My basil and cherry tomatoes are growing well. It's my first growing season. I am suspicious that my bigger tomatoes are going the way of the strawberries- deer. Will have to research this before it's too late.

I am in need of a good book to read. Please offer suggestions. I don't like fantasy too much. Hope you have a great week. Thanks for visiting. XxooT

Full of character

Aren't these rabbits and other friends pretty funny? They are for a sewing swap that a group of us Julie Arkell worshippers from a few years ago in France are in. It's taking a long time to pass around the sewing squares, but I am sure it will be worth it.

I really enjoyed testing week at school this year because I managed to create all these doodle characters. You should try it. Very amusing. Some came out bad, but mostly fun, fun, fun. Which one do you like best?

Back in New York for a visit. It is always a fun time. Have not had any pizza, but have scarfed away many other delicacies. Can't wait to try my crack pie from the Milk Bar. Yes it is really called crack pie( not to be confused with the crack cookies at Trader Joes during the holidays). One whole day left for more adventures. Have to go. Be back soon.

April almost full

Hello Blog Friends,
Sunday is here and the work week shall begin soon. We need two Sundays in every week.
Yesterday was the Italian Festival. Lori and I finally found our friend Antoinette while walking around. It was great to see her again. Had some delicious fresh mozzarella cheese at the festival. Look how nice Lori was to duck so I look like the tallest in our bunch.

We have been so busy with clay at school that my kiln could no longer take it and had a breakown. I hope I can get it fixed. Some of these fourth grade desserts are really good.

Hmm, not much else to report. I guess this was a quickie. Thanks for seeing me. Xxoo

Springfull

Vermont was quite cold, but fun. I got my share of maple products as well as granola and bagels- and new boots that I found on sale. I really like them, but have not yet figured out how to walk down the stairs in them. Weird.
Look at these demo paintings I made for fifth grade:

I really like how they came out. I just used one color tempera paint and black and white for each. I couldn't stop painting while the students were painting their own.

I am bugged that I couldn't capture the beautiful blue colors of Lake Champlain and the mountains no matter how hard I tried.
I guess I don't have too much news. Cross your fingers I'm okay...had a high score on a blood test indicating possible problems in the liver. Further work to be done...
I am miffed... Have not come across my beloved jasmine yet. At least there has been some wisteria. Let me know of you have sighted any jasmine in your area. Send a photo.

Restful

Hurrah, spring break is here and a little warmer weather too. So far vacation has been a dream. I plan to make cinnamon scones today to top off a great weekend.

Hope to teach myself to crochet this week. No giggling from my art gals. I know it's a long shot...but you never know...
Looks like I am going to have a Bama daughter. Not sure how that happened.
My Wednesday future:

Well I don't think it's still this snowy in Vermont, but there are going to be some wet toes involved. What's a bootless girl to do? Don't think my cowgirl boots will work out too well. Oh well it's going to be great- friends, fresh maple syrup and homemade bagels. Can't wait. Ta ta mon amies.

Springfull

Seems like someone has blogitis. Sorry once again for my delay. Here are the finished pieces I glazed. They came out a little dull, but not bad.

I haven't been working on as much art as I wish. Distracted by watching season three of Downton Abbey and decluttering.
Spring is on its way and Charleston is starting to look the part.

Love these treses and the old limbs. Excited about going to Vermont soon to see some friends. I don't think the trees will look like this, but I do hope to do some maple sap gathering and boiling. Yum, fresh sugar on snow.

Some of these wire Calder sculptures came out pretty cool. It was a fun class project.

Well off to another episode of Downton Abbey. Thanks for visiting. Xxoo
