A few drops more

Here's a page from my 365 day journal. I was doing so well until about March 25 working on a page a day in my journal and then it went by the wayside, but I am hoping to rekindle my commitment once school is over next week. It's just like flossing and going to the gym for me. Miss it one day and  it's hard to get back into it. Remind me  that it's a good thing.

I need good book recommendations. I have been reading, but haven't found anything wonderful to read lately. Please Please I need to read a good book.

I wish there was a way I could doodle stuff on the margins of this layout. All this space just cries out for doodles and little drawings. I hope I  don't start drawing them on my screen. It would be cool to have a blog set up with a Wacom attached. I bet it's a reality but not in this house.
Have a great weekend if I don't stop back before Sunday.

Half Way t\here

Here is a picture of one of my girl's that I like to draw as doll. (Idea from Katie K. class. She is a dear) I was thinking of doing a whole series but I think I will be lucky if I get the two made I plan to give to my friend Joy for her birthday. (shhh it's a surprise) I want to make her one of me and one of her. This one kind of looks like me, but I couldn't give it up so I'll have to try a new one. I'll post them when I'm done, but I wouldn't be waiting around my blog hoping for a glimpse anytime soon. It could take awhile. Poor Lorraine, it took me three years to get the rug hook purse finished for her.
I mean well and have great ideas, but the execution isn't as strong as the vision.
Nothing too eventful at school. I asked a third grader where his teacher had been (absent for a week) and he said, "I think she's on a cruise, but she's not married so I don't think she could be on a cruise. Maybe she is sick."  Oh, she was on a cruise.

No Paris for moi this summer. I do get to go to SF for a short week. I can not wait. See my old digs, eat well, shop well, see friends. It shall be great.
Okay time to say good-bye.
Thanks for visiting.

Dry Day

Hey all,
Thanks for visiting me here at the blog. That's me with my favorite animal when I was young. I was obsessed with rabbits- no really, it was unreal. Every Easter I would hope for a real rabbit in the basket, but nope only chocolate ones. I wrote composition books full of rabbit family stories. I wish I still had them. I can still visualize one of these books. Now I just like these old fashion rabbit images with the big ears. I think it's the hares I like.

Today was a pretty quiet day. Not a lot accomplished, but still not a lot lost. I made some very gooey brownies. I love when they are goopy and drippy.

And now what you have all been waiting for... the drawing for the give away. Here's the prize:

Its a magnet copy of an art collage I made at an Anne Bagby class in Tennessee. The colors are actually much more muted but I didn't think the image would show up as well as light as it is, so I saturated the color. Actually it was Anne who got me to really try drawing people. It wasn't a drawing class, but we needed some images and I wanted to make the project my own so I drew these two girls that are still my favorite. I'll show you them some day. Thanks Anne for getting me started. I still think my people look a bit silly, but that's why I like them. They are just so fun.
Oops, I think I got off track.
The winner of the two entries was Sweet Petunia- who I might mention had a birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday Limey. Hope you had a great one. Your gift will be in the mail this week. Thanks for playing. And remember all the rest of you, you gotta play to win.

Big Rain Puddles Today

Hello blog friends,
I am back. Today's pic is the large wallpaper painting/collage I started at Artfest in Anahata's class. I have to finish it, but am deciding what large space I can work on. (That's a good excuse). The other wall hangings from the class were just incredible. This is Chloe but I think she may  not be too happy with that information. Actually this is the closest resemblance I can see between she and I (her and me?). We are so different in personality and features. It is pretty interesting to contemplate.
In other news, the give away is looking pretty bleak. My two blog posters have pretty good odds of winning the prize.
Have a great Memorial day LONG weekend.

A Few Splashes

Okay so far this is pretty fun and I had to finish my drawing so I had something to put on the blog. That could be good- get my art parts in gear. I drew this silly girlie today at school while watching over the fearsome first  graders. (Drats, not as clear as I would have liked to scan- sorry) They were building with blocks and lego except one girl was drawing- yahoo- anyway I like the way she came out (The drawing, not the first grader although I am sure her Mom is glad about the way she came out) so I took her home and water colored her. I like it(need to work on the eye part but still...)

Only 2 more weeks of school. I need a plan of fun. I thought of driving cross country but don't think my 200,000 plus Honda would be happy although she may like the action. Any ideas of places? Thought of taking Chloe to Paris too but tres cher.  I just can't decide.

Oh yeah, I'm having a give away already. I have them with my second graders and they are so fun. They always come in asking what the give away is. So the giveaway is... my son!!! (okay just kidding- I wouldn't be able to get the pictures in the right spot if I gave him away.) The give away is a surprise, but something I have made. It's pretty easy to win too since my blog is new and not world renowned (yet of course) The deadline is Sunday. Indicate in your post that you can't wait to win and your favorite vacation place.
Yeah the gal can ramble.

The First drop

Okay guys, here it is the start of my blog. Oh boy it's actually happening. I have to figure out how to get my friends on this posting pronto. You know I have no idea what I am doing.
Here are my pals. They keep me company and help me smile.

I have lots of cool images and ideas to share. Some of you may know I have a thing for cupcake images (although it's fading. Now I am an Airstream and old VW camper fool). Look what I found in my neighborhood. This is shocking because here in Charleston things can be a bit conservative, but this is the yummiest car in town.

OOH Riley saved the day. The pictures all went straight to the top of the post and I couldn't figure out how to move them (for at least 15 minutes) and he just went to the code and Viola via the placement.
It has occurred to me that maybe I better try to figure out a what I am doing here, but have no fear I shall return- with new knowledge, images, and stories.
Hope to hear from you.
